Following recent events that conflict with our values and in consultation with our Trustees, staff, and members of the community, we will cease all activity on X from 30 August 2024.

We are delighted to update members that the Association has appointed Susan Martin as our new Chief Executive. 

The recruitment panel, chaired by ALT’s Chair Helen O'Sullivan, undertook a thorough and comprehensive selection process with the support of recruitment specialists Harris Hill that involved the staff team and Trustees.

We are looking for expressions of interest for officer roles for our new Special Interest Groups (SIGs), launching in September 2024. The four new SIGs focus on: Digital Accessibilty, Digital Assessment, Independent Consultancy & Career Pathways, and Digital Sustainability. We will launch these new SIGs as part of the Annual Conference 2024.

Voting for the ALT Community Choice Award 2024 is now open until Thursday 22 August 2024 (at noon).

We invite all Members of our ALT community to vote for their winning entry between now and the closing date. The winner of the Community Choice Award will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on 4 September 2024.

Our 2024 Annual General Meeting will be held in person and online at ALT Annual Conference, 4 September 2024, Manchester, UK.

All Members are encouraged to attend and the AGM is also open to guests and observers. In accordance with the ALT Constitution adopted in 2019, the business of the Annual General Meeting will include: the election of Trustees; approval of accounts and report and decisions on any resolutions.

The service evaluates further learning activities to the highest standards. Thousands of training courses, events, e-learning programs, conferences, workshops and seminars are formally CPD accredited by the service every year. 

We are seeking enthusiastic Co-Chairs for the 2025 Conference Committee for the 16th annual conference for Open Education research, practice and policy. As key players in planning and executing the event, the Co-Chairs will help shape the conference’s direction.

As you know, ALT has been without a permanent CEO since September last year. Kerry
Pinny, ALT’s Chief Operations Officer, has been acting as Interim CEO in the meantime.
Thanks to the ALT Team, the Board of Trustees and I have been able to take the time to
focus on what ALT needs from its next CEO. ALT celebrated its 30th year in 2023 and we
are now seeking a leader to steer ALT through its next chapter.

Entries for the ALT Awards 2024 are still open until 11 June 2024, meaning there is just over a week to submit your entry. This year’s Awards Ceremony will take place on 4 September, as part of the ALT Annual Conference 2024, held in Manchester.
