The Fundamentals of Copyright in Learning Technology Workshop will be led by Chris Morrison and Jane Secker, chairs of the ALT CoOL SIG. This interactive session will give you practical insights into copyright law and how it applies to digital education.

This engaging workshop uses Copyright the Card Game to build foundational knowledge and explore real-world scenarios relevant to learning technology. Whether you’re new to copyright or looking to enhance your understanding, you’ll leave equipped with actionable knowledge to apply directly to your work.

Meet the Presenters: Chris Morrison and Jane Secker

Chris Morrison is the Copyright and Licensing Specialist at the Bodleian Libraries, University of Oxford. He has extensive experience in copyright education and policy, helping institutions navigate copyright complexities in digital learning environments.

Jane Secker is a Senior Lecturer in Educational Development at City, University of London. She has a strong background in copyright literacy and digital education, having co-authored several publications on copyright and e-learning.

Together, Chris and Jane co-Chair the Copyright and Online Learning Special Interest Group (CoOL SIG), established in November 2020. CoOL SIG focuses on copyright issues in online learning, digital education, and learning technology, advocating for copyright literacy and best practices in the educational community. Chris and Jane are on a mission to make learning about copyright fun, engaging and empowering.
