Blended Learning Essentials: Embedding Practice starts on 5 February

Blended Learning Essentials (BLE) is a free online course for the Vocational Education and Training sector to promote effective practice and pedagogy in blended learning. The course is designed for anyone working in further education, skills training, vocational education, workplace learning, lifelong learning or adult education, who wants to learn about and implement blended learning.

The course enables you to:

  • Apply new technologies in courses and learning opportunities to improve learner outcomes.
  • Identify ways in which new technology can contribute to solve key challenges in -your learning context.
  • Develop your own skills further and contribute to the VET sector’s community knowledge of the optimal uses of blended learning.

Accreditation

A range of pathways to further accreditation for course participants are outlined in a guide for participants and signposted within the course content. These include paths to post-graduate qualifications for participants whom the course inspires to engage in further study, and accreditation via professional bodies such as the Society for Education and Training and ALT.

CMALT is ALT’s peer-based professional accreditation scheme for individuals seeking recognition for their skills and experience in Learning Technology. Blended Learning Essentials is mapped to the CMALT framework, and a number of course participants to date have been enabled to draw on their experience in the course to apply for and achieve CMALT. Further CMALT-based CPD opportunities are available for individuals who act as Digital Champions and course mentors.
