Julie Voce steps down as Chair of ALT M25 Member Group after 17 remarkable years

Thank you Julie

After an incredible 17-year journey, Julie Voce is stepping down from the committee of the ALT M25 Member Group, one of ALT’s longest-running Regional Member Groups.

Julie first joined the M25 group in 2004 and played a pivotal role in its revival in 2008, before it became an ALT Member group in 2012. Since then, she has steered it through years of engaging termly meetings, inclusive events, and a growing legacy of shared practice.

Julie’s leadership helped transform M25 into a vibrant community of practice connecting learning technology practitioners across London. Her vision and dedication made the group a key regional anchor for knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and innovation in the sector.

Reflecting on her journey, Julie recently shared on LinkedIn,

Thank you to everyone who has organised, presented at or attended an M25-LT meeting and to colleagues at ALT for supporting us since 2012. We have a great community and I am proud to have contributed to it. I'll still be coming to the meetings, but it's time to let someone else take the lead now. Good luck Sue and Geraldine!.”

She recounted highlights from her time, including:

  • Playful learning debates and crystal maze-style activities
  • VLE reviews that spawned the unforgettable phrase “squirrel of death”
  • Meetings marked by fairy lights, spirited discussion, and beige catering

The M25 Committee shared,

We will greatly miss Julie's calm and organised leadership, but are looking forward to continuing the tradition of providing an inclusive and fun, London-based community of practice. Sign up to the M25 mailing list and come to our termly events to meet, learn and share with each other.”

Julie remains an active member of ALT and will continue to attend group meetings, offering inspiration and continuity as the torch passes to Sue Harrison and Geraldine Foley.
