<p>The next Teaching and Learning Conversation (TLC) is on <strong>Wednesday 13th March at 12:00 – 13:00</strong> (60 minutes) with Anna Clare Hunter Senior Lecturer in Academic Development at the University of Central Lancashire.</p>

“In this conversation we will be exploring the potential of collage making as a tool for academic development, and for teaching and learning more widely. Drawing on the work of Daphne Loads (2010; 2016; 2017) I will be discussing the importance of such arts based methods for connecting learners with their own perceptions, and enabling connections between individuals to enhance learning communities.”</p>

<p>An opportunity to hear about open practices in education and to discuss barriers to adoption as part of Open Education week 2019.</p>
<p>We will be joined by <strong>Shona Whyte</strong>, Associate Professor of English at Université Nice Sophia Antipolis, France who will share her findings from research into teacher adoption of open practices. Her presentation is entitled: <strong>Adopting open practices in schools: a CALL teacher education study</strong>.</p>
<p>We will then facilitate a discussion around barriers to adoption of open practices amongst teachers in different contexts and welcome your experiences and tips for supporting adoption.</p>

<p>Women are leading and participating in great achievements in the Open Movement, and we have much more to contribute. Javiera Atenas, Frances Bell and Caroline Kuhn will facilitate speakers and other participants in exploring our topic during this free webinar.</p>
<p>Invited speakers will explore what women do in the different areas of openness, how women are fostering a culture of openness and collaboration and how they are changing the landscape in education, data, science and governance. We aim to map good practices that engage fellow women who want to get involved in Open Science, Open Data, Open Education and Open Government.</p>
<p>We are lining up a great set of women - watch out on @A_L_T, #femedtech and @okfnedu for speakers, each of whom will speak briefly on their Open Practice, leaving plenty of time for questions and comments.</p>

<p>The next Teaching and Learning Conversation (TLC) is on Tuesday 26th February at 12:00 – 13:00 (60 minutes) with Simon Thomson, Director, Centre for Innovation in Education, University of Liverpool. </p>
<p>This month’s TLC is titled ‘Digitally Supported Curriculum’. Simon passionately believes that digital tools and services offer fantastic opportunities for learning and teaching. However, in many Universities there is still often a segregation of TEL / E-Learning into separate units or departments and in some cases these are detached from academic or curriculum development services. Simon’s research is exploring the effectiveness and impact of the TPACK framework (Mishra & Koehler, 2006) as an academic development and curriculum development framework where we see “digital” as an integrated component of academic development and curriculum design (not a separate component). Simon proposes that we shift the positivist rhetoric from technology as an “enhancement” to learning (TEL) to one of critical discourse where we consider the use of “digital” as part of the wider curriculum design process through which we integrate digital when and where it adds value and we don’t use digital where it doesn’t.</p>

This year the format will include shared experiences from our members, and abstracts are being accepted until 12 April. <p>Participants are invited to propose presentations or discussion / practical activities around any aspect of critical digital literacies e.g. e-portfolio use. reflective practice, open educational practice. </p>
