From 14-15th April we supported this year’s Open Education Conference (OER15) which took place at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. OER15 was one of a series of annual International conferences which discuss research and practice in the adoption of Open Education in all sectors of Education and Training.
Chaired by Haydn Blackey and Martin Weller and organised by a very active and community-focused Conference Committee the conference celebrated openness over two days with much online activity as well as face to face sessions. A varied programme included keynotes by Cable Green, Josie Fraser, Sheila MacNeill and Martin Weller. You can now watch all the keynote videos on ALT's YouTube channel. The conference also generated much debate online with that hashtag #oer15, see the #oer15 Twitter visualisation, and prompted coverage in the wider media including an article by Chris Parr, Times Higher Education, under the title 'Failing to share publicly funded HE resources 'immoral'' which focuses on Cable Green's keynote.
While the work in Open Education continues in the coming months participants are already looking forward to re-convening in Edinburgh in 2016, at the 2016 Open Education Conference (OER16) chaired by Melissa Highton and Lorna Campbell and hosted by the University of Edinburgh.
