Launching the ALT Awards 2023

We are delighted to announce that the ALT Awards 2023 are now open for entries until Monday 12 June 2023.

Now in their 16th year, the ALT Awards are back once again to celebrate and recognise excellence & achievement in Learning Technology. This year sees the return of five awards categories, including:

  • Award for Individuals
  • Award for Teams/Institutions
  • Award for Leadership in Digital Education
  • Award for Case Studies in Ethical EdTech
  • Award for Digital Transformation (in partnership with Jisc)

Entries are now open through until Monday 12 June 2023, and we welcome entries from individuals and teams based anywhere in the world. The awards are open to all, and free to enter. Our 2023 judging panel lead by Chair of ALT, Dave White, will shortlist solely on the entry form submissions, and there will be no interviews taking place this year.

Dave White, Chair of the Judging Panel, said: We are excited to announce this year’s ALT Awards. We hope that many individuals and groups will submit entries to be in the running to have their work celebrated by the ALT community. The awards have been designed to reflect the broad range of roles and work which ALT members lead on. This ranges from individuals supporting and enhancing Digital Education practices within departments to institution wide projects and culture change.

This is the second year of the new Digital Transformation award, an ALT, Jisc partnership. The other award in its second year focuses on Case Studies in Ethical EdTech. With all the excitement and anxiety surrounding AI platforms, such as Chat GPT, it will be interesting to see if there are examples of the ethical incorporation of this type of technology into process and practice. I am confident much policy is being written or rewritten in response to the abrupt abundance of access to generative tools of this type. I wonder how many institutions will use the FELT framework to help scaffold constructive responses?

There is more detail about the awards and entry criteria below. I encourage you to submit an entry on your own behalf or as a team/institution”.
