Luis Neves is an associate professor at the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Nottingham. After a career as a researcher and lecturer in structural and bridge engineering, Luis became the Digital Learning Director of the Faculty of Engineering in 2020 and, since then, has been fully dedicated to enhancing students' digital experience in HE. Following a period focused on adapting learning to the constraints of the pandemic, Luis became Product Owner and later Director of Product and Operations at the University of Nottingham Online. In this role, Luis has designed and implemented a new online learning ecosystem for the University of Nottingham, providing students with an integrated end-to-end experience focused on simplicity, accessibility and ease of use, allowing students to focus on their learning experience.

This webinar will describe the University of Nottingham Online's journey in designing, developing, and implementing an online learning ecosystem. In particular, we will discuss how we formed an internal multi-disciplinary team, including pedagogic, technology and user experience experts, and partnered with external providers to go from zero to a working ecosystem in 12 months. We will discuss our vision of a learning ecosystem, how we co-created a set of requirements with our providers and how we embraced agile ways of working to implement the ecosystem. We will also discuss how we created a culture of cooperation and open discussion with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and how that culture allowed us to take risks, learn from errors and improve faster.
