In its twelfth consecutive year, Open Education Week (OE Week) is gearing up to captivate audiences worldwide from March 4-8, 2024.
Organised by OE Global, this annual event serves as a beacon for the Open Education movement, bringing together the global community to advocate for openness in education and to celebrate the success of the Open Education movement in improving access to and quality of education worldwide.
How to get involved?
During Open Education Week, educators organise and conduct online and local events including workshops, webinars, discussions, debates, and other activities. All events are listed on OE Global’s open education week website, providing a forum for promotion, participation, and curation.
There are many ways to participate in Open Education Week:
- Share your favourite OERs and other open assets
- Engage in conversation with fellow participants on OEG Connect
- Attend one or more of the activities being organised by others
- Help promote #OEWeek or #OEWeek24
ALT Values Openness
ALT's 2020-25 Strategy sets out openness as one of the Association's core values. Openness informs our aim to 'increase the impact of Learning Technology for public benefit', and the Open Education movement, which seeks to capitalise on the opportunities afforded by digital technology and communication, is an important driver for the wider and more effective use of Learning Technology. In turn, the expertise of Learning Technology practitioners has a key role to play in enabling and promoting the widespread adoption of open educational resources (OER) and practices.
Throughout the year ALT provides many opportunities to explore open education practices including;
- Open Education Conference; OER24 will bring together OE specialists from across the globe to leverage shared expertise for change in policy and practice. 27-28 March 2024
- ALT also offers fully funded scholarship opportunities for all of our events, to ensure open access for all. Keep an eye out for #altc24 updates to learn about scholarship opportunities at our Annual Conference.
- Open access resources including the #altc blog and RLT journal. The #altc blog publishes a wide range of posts, including news, opinion pieces, project updates, case studies, and book reviews. Research in Learning Technology is a peer-reviewed, open access journal publishing articles on a wide range of learning technology and education topics.
