We are seeking experienced Co-Chairs for the 2017 Conference Committee of the 8th OER Conference, who will play a major role in planning and facilitating the conference in 2017. For information about previous OER conferences please visit https://oer16.oerconf.org/. The conference format evolves each year to keep pace with the changing expectations and priorities of participants and speakers, but its core values around Open Education remain strong.
We are looking to appoint two people with the following qualities:
-
national/international standing in the Open Education field;
-
the commitment and vision to make the conference a success;
-
the capacity to chair a major international conference, and its programme committee;
-
enthusiasm for and/or experience of working with the Open Education community and ALT.
In addition, we encourage expressions of interest from individuals whose institution (Universities, larger FE colleges and other Educational Institutions) are willing to host the conference. Planning and organising the conference will be the responsibility of the Conference Committee supported by ALT staff. The role is unremunerated, but travel and subsistence costs will be met by ALT, and the conference fee will be waived.
To express an interest, please send an email to Maren Deepwell maren.deepwell@alt.ac.uk, with evidence supporting the four headings above, to arrive by 26 February 2016. Expressions of interest from two individuals interested in co-chairing together can be submitted as a single email. As an informal guideline, please limit your expression of interest to no more than 500 words in total. We would prefer to appoint colleagues who have not previously chaired or co-chaired the conference. Proposals will be reviewed by the current OER16 Chairs on behalf of the Conference Committee, together with SIG officers of the Open Education SIG. Based on their recommendation, the ALT Trustees will have final approval.
