OER26 Call for Proposals

The OER26 call for proposals is now officially open.

Taking place in Milton Keynes on 22–23 June, this year’s conference invites the open education community to explore the theme “Openness Reimagined: Continuity, Change and Shared Vision.” As technologies, policy environments, and global debates around equity and justice continue to shift, OER26 provides a timely space to reflect on how the ethos of openness can be sustained, challenged, and reshaped.

Hosted by The Open University, UK, OER26 also marks the 20th anniversary of OpenLearn, which has provided free university‑level learning to millions worldwide. The event offers an opportunity to consider both the enduring values and future directions of open education.

The programme committee welcomes proposals from researchers, educators, practitioners, policymakers, technologists, and advocates across the open education community. Submissions may address themes such as:

  • Openness as a project of social transformation
  • Reimagining openness through theory, technology, and futures
  • Openness as justice and equity
  • Open practices and pedagogical innovation
  • Openness as care
  • Open Minds (wild card submissions)

OER26 invites contributions that examine how openness continues to evolve as a collective project shaped by critical inquiry, practical innovation, and shared ethical commitment.

Submission Deadline: 13 April 2026
