How to join ALT

Individual Membership

Individual members receive our fortnightly emailed news digest, and free subscriptions to the ALT Journal (ALT-J), the ALT Newsletter (ALT-N) and copies of occasional publications. They are entitled to substantial discounts on all ALT workshops, conferences, and events. Full details of entitlements are provided in our 2 page flyer titled Join ALT as an individual member [294 kb PDF]. We are keen for UK Individual Members of ALT to pay their membership fee by Direct Debit, and offer a £7 annual discount if fees are paid by this method.

To join please complete all sections of the membership application form [500 kB PDF], including the Direct Debit instruction. Return the completed and signed form by post to ALT.

Members who acheive Certified Membership status under our new CMALT scheme will pay an annual membership fee equal to the relevant individual membership fee, plus £24, e.g. £80 in the case of UK education and non-education staff. More information about CMALT.

Organisational and sponsoring members

Organisational and sponsoring members have further entitlements, which are summarised in our 2 page flyer titled Join ALT as an organisation [279 kB PDF]. Sponsoring members normally pay a minimum annual fee of £1,276. Organisational members pay an annual fee of between £296 and £976, depending on their size. The fee for universities, colleges, and public sector and charitable organisations is based on the JISC banding system. The fee for companies is based on their annual turnover.

For organisational and sponsoring members we have a common renewal date of 1st of February, so as to coincide with our financial year. This means that new members will pay a prorata fee to bring them up to the renewal date, whereupon the full annual fee will fall due.
