Joint update from the Chair and Chief Executive

What we have been up to illustration

Dear Members

A year ago we launched ALT’s Strategy 2017-2020 and since then we have made great progress putting our shared values into practice and working together to meet our aims. We reported to Members and stakeholders from across sectors in ALT’s Annual Report [PDF] and at the AGM in September. Since then much has happened and so we are are now sharing more of what we have been up to:

New partnership between ALT and Oxford Brookes University

Image of ALT's values

Oxford Brookes University has been the host institution of the Association for Learning Technology (ALT) since October 1999.

From 1 February 2018, we will be entering a new phase of the relationship between the two institutions as the Association becomes a fully virtual, distributed organisation and employs staff directly.

Over the last decade the hosting relationship has not only supported operations and staff but led to joint work on Learning Technology projects and initiatives with the University being an active and engaged Member Organisation of ALT.

2017 Annual General Meeting: Agenda and proxy voting arrangements

The agenda for the AGM and related information, including arrangements for proxy voting, has now been published on the AGM page. As a member of ALT or the representative of a member organisation, you play an essential part in the governance of the Association and we hope that all members attending this year's annual conference will participate in the AGM.

Trustee elections open 1 August

Eligible Members will receive voting instructions via email and any members eligible to vote twice, as individual members and representatives of member organisations, will receive two emails. Voting closes at 12:00 noon on Wednesday 30 August 2017. Members who hold Individual, Certified or Honorary Life Membership or represent organisational members will be eligible to vote.

2016 Annual General Meeting: Agenda and proxy voting arrangements

The agenda for the AGM and related information, including arrangements for proxy voting, has now been published on the AGM page. As a member of ALT or the representative of a member organisation, you play an essential part in the governance of the Association and we hope that all members attending this year's annual conference will participate in the AGM.

We remember Doug Gowan, President of ALT

As a community we are sad to announce the passing of Doug Gowan, serving President of ALT, who died on 8 February.

As former founder and chief executive of the Open Learning Partnership Doug was elected as Vice-Chair in 2013, serving as Chair the following year and in 2015 as President of ALT. As a Trustee Doug was instrumental in leading ALT through the transition from unincorporated charity to becoming a Charitable Incorporated Organisation in 2015.
