Social programme [1]

There are many informal networking opportunities and social gatherings over the course of the conference, but in addition there will be several evening socials organised by ALT.
Monday: Pre-conference reception
On the Monday night the conference kicks off with a drinks reception, sponsored by Toolwire, and buffet dinner at 7.00pm in the exhibition area (included in the full conference price). This also signals the opening of the exhibition. Delegates will be able to register from 2.00pm so that they are settled in and ready for the first day.
Tuesday: New members event and buffet dinner
A reception for new members of ALT will take place after the final session on Tuesday, at 6.15pm in the foyer outside the main lecture theatre. There will be a buffet meal for all at 6.45pm served in EATS Restaurant. After this delegates are encouraged to head across the road (only a few minutes walk) to the nearby bars, Jabez Clegg and Krobar, which have plenty of comfy seating and reasonably priced drinks, to enjoy the evening together.
Wednesday: Drinks reception and gala dinner
This year there will be a drinks reception at the Palace Hotel sponsored by Microsoft, followed by the gala dinner in the Grand Room of the Palace Hotel. The dinner will be a three course set menu with wine, and is included in the full delegate fee. During the evening there will be presentations for the ALT Learning Technologist of the Year 2012, the Best Proceedings Paper and Best Pecha Kucha at ALT-C 2012, and the ALT/Google award for the best use of "Apps in Learning and Teaching". The Palace Hotel is only a 10 minute walk from the venue therefore transport will not be provided, for more information including directions please visit: http://www.principal-hayley.com/venues--hotels/the-palace-hotel.aspx [2]
The running order for the evening is:

7.30pm Awards
8.00pm Dinner
Thursday
Please note that all lunches are included in the delegate fee but in response to delegate feedback, a packed lunch only will be provided on the final day so that it can be taken away.
Attending ALT-C for the first time?
If you are attending ALT's annual conference for the first time, here are a few tips on getting the most out of your days:
- If you are arriving on Monday, attend a pre-conference workshop and the pre-conference reception. That is the best way to meet other delegates and start networking;
- Attend an ALT session to find out more about our work, and come and meet some ALT Members at the ALT stand;
- Use Crowdvine to start networking with other delegates and express an interest in sessions.
Throughout the conference, the staff at the Helpdesk are there to assist you and can provide information and maps of the campus and local area.
