The spotlight on academic integrity as an issue has intensified in recent times as technology continues to impact teaching, learning and assessment in higher education. A lot of the discourse centres on identifying breaches of academic integrity using technology, through things like plagiarism checkers and online proctoring tools. At Dublin City University (DCU) we believe that academic integrity should be fostered with students, not policed. One of our recent initiatives includes the development of a suite of 12 Principles of Academic Integrity, which help educators to design and manage assessments that promote academic integrity. These principles are grouped into three categories - Standards; Assessment Design; Student Ownership. Technology can help support the implementation of these 12 principles across the three categories. In this webinar, Dr Fiona O'Riordan (Academic Developer) and Rob Lowney (Learning Technologist) from the DCU Teaching Enhancement Unit will share some of these suggested technology -supported approaches. Additionally, they will invite participants to discuss ways in which they have used technology to support academic integrity, with a view to gathering examples that can potentially be shared wider, such as through the technology-enhanced assessment exemplars OER maintained by DCU.
