Information for Delegates

This page is frequently updated. Please refer back to it immediately prior to booking, and during the two weeks before the conference itself. If you are unsure whether the organisation you work for is a member or not, please refer to our members' list. If your organisation isn't a member, you can avail of the members' rate by becoming an individual member - more information.

* For individual members and/or employees of organisational and sponsoring members (and you can join now to access these), we apply a discount of 17%, and for those who book by the early bird deadline, a further discount of 19%. Taken in combination this results in a possible 33% discount overall.

ALT's online booking system is now closed

The 19 August deadline for bookings for ALT-C 2010 has now passed and the on-line booking system is no longer accessible.

20 August 2010. Should you need to make a late booking, please contact Hayley Maisey, ALT's Head of Operations and Events in the first instance.

Breakdown of the costs

The full conference and single day attendance fees to attend will cover all sessions, meals and refreshments throughout the day. ALT will also cover the cost to attend the Monday and Tuesday social events, but only for those who tell us that they want to attend these. For this reason you will be asked to confirm your attendance at all social events at the time of booking. If you are uncertain about the social events, you can ask to be added at a later date, and we will do our best to include you, provided that we have space available.

Wednesday Gala Dinner Event

If you would like to attend the Wednesday gala dinner event, at which the winners of the 2010 Awards will be announced, there will be an additional cost per head of 50GBP per person. This covers a pre dinner drinks reception and four-course meal with wine.

NB. 13 August: The Conference Gala Dinner is now fully booked. Should you wish to be added to a waiting list for this social event, please email Naomi Courtenay, ALT's Administration Officer (Membership and Events), in the first instance. (Places may only become available on the day of the event.)

University accommodation

Accommodation is not included in the fees but is available at an extra cost. Single rooms can be booked through the East Midlands Conference Centre directly at a cost of 37.05 GBP + VAT per night on a bed and breakfast basis. Please refer to our accommodation information page.

Conference packs and conference handbooks

The Conference Handbook and Proceedings for ALT-C 2010 will be made available to all delegates - there are various options at the time of booking: whether you receive them by post, at conference registration, or not at all. Should you wish to receive them in advance of the conference, we will make a small charge to cover postage and packaging costs:

  • within the UK - 5 GBP;
  • in Europe - 9 GBP;
  • Rest of World - 11 GBP.

ALT extended the booking deadline to Thursday, 19 August.

We will provide delegates on arrival with both documents on a USB stick along with a conference programme, a delegate list, a guide to conference facilities and the exhibition, and local information on Nottingham.

We will also send you, to the email address you provided, 'news alerts' to keep you informed. From mid-June 2010 onwards, we will make regular updates to this page as well which you can monitor as indicated at the start of the page.

Closing date for bookings

The booking deadline was extended to Thursday 19 August.

Cancellation and substitution policy

Cancellations made in writing on or before Friday, 6 August 2010 will be eligible for a full refund minus a 50GBP cancellation charge. Cancellations made after Friday, 6 August 2010 will not receive a refund. Substitutions are allowable if made in writing (either by email events@alt.ac.uk or by faxing your request to +44 (0) 1865 484165) before Friday, 20 August 2010.
