Attending altc for the first time?
If you are attending ALT's annual conference for the first time, here are a few tips on getting the most out of your days:
- If you are arriving on Monday, attend the pre-conference reception in the evening. That is the best way to meet other delegates and start networking;
- Attend an ALT session to find out more about our work, and come and meet some ALT Members at the ALT stand;
- Use the Conference hashtag #altc2013 to start networking with other delegates and express an interest in sessions.
Throughout the conference, the staff at the Helpdesk are there to assist you and can provide information and maps of the campus and local area.
There are many informal networking opportunities and social gatherings over the course of the conference, but in addition there will be several evening socials organised by ALT.
20th anniversary gala evening
This year there will be a special celebratory evening on the Wednesday of the conference to mark both the 20th anniversary of ALT and the 20th annual conference. The evening will start with a drinks reception at the EMCC, followed by a special awards ceremony and event to mark the anniversary. There will then be a sit-down meal and drinks, followed by fireworks and other surprises to conclude the evening. The gala evening is included in the price of conference attendance.
Other social events
Monday: Pre-conference reception
On the Monday night the conference kicks off with a informal drinks reception at the Orchard Hotel (adjacent to the East Midlands Conference Centre) which is included in the full conference price. In response to demand there will not be a buffet dinner included this year, but delegates are able to book dinner in the Bramleys Brasserie (at the Orchard Hotel) by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, or calling 0844 346 1216.
Early registration will also be open from 7pm in the reception of the East Midlands Conference Centre.
Tuesday: New members event and buffet dinner
A reception for new members of ALT will take place after the final session on Tuesday in the Atrium of the East Midlands Conference Centre. There will also be a buffet meal for all delegates which is included in the price of conference attendance.
