Attending ALT-C 2010 - general information

What will I receive when I register at ALT-C 2010?

All delegates who have registered by the booking deadline will receive on arrival a copy of the Proceedings and Abstract Handbooks for ALT-C 2010 (if this option was chosen at the time of booking) and/or an electronic version of these publications, a conference programme, a delegate list and a guide to conference facilities and the exhibition.

What is the ALT helpdesk for and where can it be found?

The helpdesk can provide you with all the information you need concerning your ALT-C booking i.e. what days you have booked, the social options you choase at time of online booking etc. We will also do our best to assist with any other enquiries you may have.

The helpdesk will be positioned inside the East Midlands Conference Centre (EMCC) near to the main entrance. There is a separate helpdesk for any accommodation queries that EMCC staff can help with.

What internet access will I have during the conference?

Delegates can request wireless access via the online booking system, at the time of booking for the conference. Wireless activity will be provided at no extra charge for the duration of ALT-C via the conference centre's open network.

Is the conference area wireless enabled?

Yes it is, please see above. We will provide full instructions on how to access this facility with your joining instructions.

Are there medical services at hand during ALT-C 2010?

During the conference the first point of contact for any first aid emergency is the St John’s Ambulance staff, who will be located in the Exhibition Area. If not, please make yourself known to any conference helper, identifiable by white T-shirts, or the Conference Help Desk. The Cripps Health Centre is located on Park Campus, situated off Cripps Hill, their telephone number is +44 (0) 115 846888. Nottingham also has its own University Hospital, the Queen's Medical Centre, located near the Park campus over the A52.

What is there to do in Nottingham in our free time?

Nottingham boasts a whole host of attractions, arguably the most famous being Nottingham Castle which is home to the Robin Hood statue. However, this isn’t all Nottingham has to offer with its range of museums, art galleries, theatres, parks, and more. Coupled with a range of designer, high street and independent shops located in the city centre as well as the Victoria Centre and Westfield Broadmarsh, you will be hard pushed to decide what to do with your free time! In the evenings why not sample the variety of restaurants, bars, pubs and clubs from the cosmopolitan Chapel Quarter to the Old Market Square, or why not visit some of the oldest pubs in England in the Castle area.
