From a Distance : Relieving the pain barrier of E-learning

by Mr Andy Pulman

It is estimated that 12-16% of adults visit their GP annually with low back pain (Maniadakis & Gray 2000) and that 119 million days of certified sickness result in overall costs of around 8bn (DOH, 2000). Ensuring that professionals have contemporary knowledge concerning assessment and management is essential. This paper details the design, development and evaluation of an E-Learning unit for Continuing Professional Education. Electronic learning offers advantages for professionals working in rapidly changing clinical environments, but has the completed unit make a positive difference to the student learning experience?
