ALT 2012 Learning Technologist of the Year Award

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

Announcement about the 2011 award. Entry form for the 2011 award.

Q1. Do entrants need to be individual members of ALT or working for organisations that are members of ALT?

A1. Not if they are based in the UK. Entrants based outside the UK must be individual ordinary or certified members of ALT.

Q2. Who is sponsoring the 2012 award?

A2. The award is unsponsored at present. If you wish to discuss sponsorship please email Maren Deepwell.

Q3. Are submissions from individuals and teams limited to one per institution or could there be more than one?

A3. There is no limit to the number of individuals who enter for the award from a single organisation. No more than one team entry will be accepted per organisation. In case of difficulty, check with ALT via lt2012@alt.ac.uk.

Q4. I am at XYZ organisation and my co-worker is at ABC organisation. Are we eligible to enter?

A4. If both of you are eligible on the date we receive your entry, then yes.

Q5. For a team application, how should we decide what aspects of the team's work to concentrate on in our entry?

A5. It will be important to:
i) define the team carefully and individuals' roles within it;
ii) concentrate your entry on the work of that defined team, focusing with care in Sections 6A to 6D of your entry and on the 4 criteria against which the award will be judged.

Q6. What if we want to incorporate details of "products" we have produced?

A6. Further details will be published shortly.

Q7. Can we include tables or diagrams within our entry?

A7. The web based entry form does not accommodate tables so, if you wish to include tables or diagrams you would need to do this by means of one or more URLs. Words within tables or diagrams count towards the word limit of the section of the entry to which they relate.

Q8. Who will be judging entries?

A8. Further details will be published shortly.

Q9. What are the prizes?

A9. First, second and third prizes will be available in each of two categories: individual, and team, as follows: 1st prize £1000; 2nd prize £600; 3rd prize £300.

Q10. What are the key dates in the 2012 competition?

A10. The closing date for entries is Friday 25 May 2012. Face-to-face or telephone or virtual interviews of short-listed entrants will take place on June 11th (in London if face-to-face). Applicants will be informed, if invited for interview, by email by 4 June 2012.

In case of difficulty, email lt2012@alt.ac.uk and we will do our best to help.
